Easter Egg Hunt

• You are not allowed to take any one. Your one will have your name on it
• So off you go.

I ran to where one was but there were two, even better. One on the tramp. Two on the benches under the tree, that makes 5. So far the Easter Egg Hunt is going great. Curiously I wondered if my mum had put any out on my cousins farm, but I did not think she would.

Honestly I must of have walked past my big easter egg so many times before, I actually found it up a tree. I put down all of my many other easter eggs and started climbing the tree. It was not too high. Unfortunately I got stuck for a bit up the tree because I lost my footing and I became a bit wobbly. So I had to drop my easter egg to the ground I was so scared it would break, but it didn’t. Somehow had to turn around, so I would not be stuck. Despite, the ground shock I was ok I picked up my easter egg and ran out of the bushes.

Most Proud Of Challenging And Favourite

Flax Rock Climbing

My favourite thing about rock climbing was the dark one because it was challenging and really fun, you did not know where to put your feet some of the time because it was dark. But overall it was the funnest I also got to the top.

The most challenging thing was Maia's dad’s one because it was very difficult to get over the ledge. But I made it to the top, It was very hard because my hands kept slipping of the rocks.

I am most proud of me because, I was determined to get to the top on every single one and I did. I am also very proud of me getting to the top  even when I felt tired and my whole body was aching.

Camp Moment In Time

Are the chips cooked? Is the spaghetti getting heated up? it was all a blind panic. It was almost time to plate up so soon. The spaghetti started popping in its pot. The shaped toast was starting to burn quick quick turn them over, some were burned what a disaster. Lets give the judges the non burned ones. Ouch! the chip burned me as I tried one. The chips started sizzling on the gas cooker.  I think they’re almost done.

The air tension was pretty high trying to get all the plates plated up and all pretty for presentation. Pass me the toast no that one is burned. One circle on the bottom and one heart for the top. The burning hot spaghetti got sprinkled around the edge. Chips at the top like little hairs on someones head. The delicious large breadcrumbs with yummy chicken flavoring. Done! Don’t touch the plate. Then we were taking it to the judges.

In the late 1870s. The fastest way to get a message from New Zealand was by telegram. travelling along a cable. Some of the first telegrams cost 15 shilling per word that is over 100 dollar nowadays.Today we can send an email of a fraction of a sent. Nowadays Sending emails is much quicker than telegram.

When we search things or talk on social media you are normally connected to something called a wifi hotspot. These days we are making powerful computers called servers. Many businesses and universities have their own servers and networks.Big Internet companies have heaps of serves clustered together in one large building calls a data base.

168 million emails are sent every minute. 695000 updates on one social network are updated. 969 445 queries received by one major search engine. 600 plus videos one a sharing website. 11000000 conversations take place on instant messengers. Over 70 website created. 1500 Bogs posted. 370 000 Minutes on phone calls.

The Internet cost a lot of money and takes up lots of energy. The wireless technology also the millions of kilometres of wire and optic. Data centres use a lot of energy. A large number of data centres rely on energy generated by fossil fuels.  

Some internet companies are trying to find ways of reducing their environmental cost. One popular internet company has built a large data center in Sweden. The centre draws 120 megawatts of power, that's enough power for 16,000 houses. Even though the internet costs so much it changes our lives in many different ways. Technology is great,but we need to manage the environment cost so that we can continue to enjoy the internet.

Cyber bullying is very bad , it can really upset some people and it can cause death because they have been send threats and very mean messages on social websites. You know when you're doing cyberbullying and it is not nice. Think carefully before you send it will is hurt them or is it mean. Cyberbullying happens a lot way more than it should. People sometimes send threats through anonymous accounts. You know you're doing it and its a good idea not to press send.   

Fun Moment

Begin!  Whistle in my ear balls blew flew from every direction because we were in the middle and the other team were around us. We were pretty good at dodging, we were jumping around like crazy things dodging, ducking and speeding around the square. Grass tickled against the soles of my feet. I saw a ball whizzing at me at top speed, It flung into my arms I caught it WOOHOO. All I could hear was other people ,cheering and telling the other person to go in, another person came in from the line. It was harder, more than one person had gone and I was the one the were all aiming at ,one person was behind me, one in front and one on either side and at last, I was hit. The ball felt funny as it hit me. Sadly I went to the back of the line I was about to get back in again when the whistle blew and we had to change activity.

Argo Floats

An argo float is something that measures the temperature and salinity of seawater. There is around 3500 argos adrift. Argo float don't just drift around they are programmed to travel up and down in a continuous. cycle They are measured to be 1.2metre tall, they weigh about 40 kg, They cost $19000 and their lifespan is 5 years. The argo float allows them to measure temperatures in deeper and shallow waters. It can drift thousands of kilometres before the battery runs out. They are only made in three countries United States, Germany and France. The argo cycle first it descends around for six hours, then then it parks at 1000 metres, then drifts for 9 days, then descends to 2000 metre. then it ascends to the surface around 6 hours collecting data. Most argos work for about 5 years after that they sink to the bottom for good. They released around 800 each year so they don't run out. It costs them around $15,200,000 a year.  

Argo are an international project 30 world wide countries are involved. Oceanographers use argro data to learn more about the world ocean and also how water moves. Scientists were very interested when data comes back when it was hotter rather colder. Scientists can also make predictions about the effects of the water, which include rising sea water and and an increase of tropical storms. New Zealand waters are famous for releasing the highest number argos in the world (750). In 2012 there were over 3500 active argo float in the worlds oceans. The argo floats that are released near Antarctica with special ice sensors. If the surface covers over with ice it will stay down for a week, but sometimes it takes several months for it to unfreeze and for it to send its data.

 This is an argo float. It is much bigger than this.  

3200 Year Old Tree

First, read and summarise the article.

This giant sequoia tree is 3200 years old and not till now it has not been photographed with a special camera.

It is 227 feet tall, 45,000 cubic  feet in volume, 27 feet wide and there is over 2 billion needles that more than any tree on the planet.

It’s one of the fastest growing trees in the world. It only exists in one place,in the Sierra Nevadas in California.

They had a very special camera that takes heaps of photos with a few cameras on it.

Then:

- watch the video and recount how 'they' took the photo.  

 It took ages wiring the things together then a even harder job pulling it up on pulleys to take the photos to the very top. It took them 32 days to - put the photo together in all its right bit and pieces.

Its a very unique photo because its got put together by heaps of different photos. I think its very clever because it must of taken a lot of work because it took 32 day just to put together.

I reckon it was worth  doing all the work because it looks incredible.  

- write about the biggest tree in our country

Te Matua Ngahere is the biggest tree in New Zealand but not the tallest. Its 16.41m around the tree trunk, 10.21m that is the trunk height, the total height is 29.9m   and the trunk volume is 201.8m.

The tree is based in Waipoua Forest of Northland Region New Zealand. The tree means father of the forest. To get to it you have to park your car and walk to it on a track. You used to be able to go right up to it but not anymore because kauri trees root are close to the surface and they don’t want to hurt them.

Reflection

Something I enjoyed learning was how to keep straight.

My favourite thing about kayaking in the pool was the whole thing because I love kayaking.

My Great Great Grandmother

My great grandmother is incredible and resilient also she survived the influenza epidemic in the 1920's in Wellington. She is called Alice Jean Findlay. She was born in 1918 during the 2nd world war. In the second world war she worked Wellington hospital as a nurse. She married a man called John Findlay. Jean has six kids, 17 grandchildren, a lot of great grandchildren including me and one great great grandchild. My grandmother is strong and loyal. It was her 96th birthday not long a go and now she live in a rest home called princess Alexandra. I love my grandmother heaps and heaps.

Fun Swimming Sports

I dived into the pool and I suddenly felt as frozen as ice, I came to the surface and began to run.  The water splashed into my mouth it tasted strongly of chlorine. I could see people cheering and encouraging us racers on. It was so noisy people cheering, Mr G commentating, clapping it was such a hullabaloo. The penny dive came  quickly. The last event then we can hop out. I could hear the pennies splash on the water then fall to the bottom. I could see them almost everywhere I looked. I could smell the chlorine underwater but I didn't mind I just kept looking I found nine in the end it was a great day.

The shade cooled my fur right over my back. I could hear the the other monkeys squawking and swimming in the nearby water hole. The air smelt so delicious, of yummy bananas. I wished the bananas would just appear in front of me, it was just too hot to move. The air tasted like juicy fruits, it just made me hungrier and hungrier. The green,green grass the bananas hidden in the leaves.  I gazed and gazed at the trees. Finally, I was off in another world .  

Waka Art

This is my waka art. I did three different bits. One is what I like to do, Gymnastics, Swimming and hanging out with my family.

The next bit is where I am from and I am from the amazing Kenya and the incredible New Zealand. 

Also there's a bit about me and my classroom. The pride tree is in the centre. Six, that's our classroom number and the totara hub because we're in that totara hub.

 This is my oar. I chose my two favorite colours and I wrote my name in black so it stood out.
