Athletics

Running ,jumping and throwing was a whole day's fun. On monday we went to athletics. The activities were high jump,  long jump, 200m sprint, 100m sprint,50 metre hurdles and a softball throw. I did all 6 activities to earn more points for my house I scored 9 points. It was a fun challenging day I really enjoyed it I hope I can do it again. I think my most successful event was either long jump or 100m sprint because I got to the semi finals  and I am not that good at running. My dad came for about half an hour before he went back to work he watched the hurdles and the 100m sprint and then kelly and pippi came and watched me do high jump, softball throw and 200m sprint. It was probably one of the best days I have had all year.

For our mathletics we were only allowed to use a protractor, compass ,pencil and a ruler
I did quite good we were not allowed any crooked lines

Chapter 24 and 25

How did Mr Sir get revenge on Stanley?

Cup experiment

Hypothesis

I predict That the glass cups that are wine glasses and normal cups will work and the plastic  cups won't because the grip is all slippery.

Result

The result of the test was amazing  all of the cups worked I did not think they would all work because of the way the the cup variables. Some of the class first techniques weren't that good because they put their whole hand over top of the cup and the seal did not stick. But when they used two fingers it was great because they pressed down firmly and the seal stuck and the and air pressure pushed it up. When you press with two fingers some air goes out but when it gets tipped over the air is trying to get back in

My hypothesis was wrong because I did not think the plastic cups would work but they did work . They worked because the seal stuck to the card and I did not think that would happen.

Yachting reflection

Something I was pleased with was working with different people for yachting. I was worried and really nervous when I first went out, but I got over it and went out but when I was more confident I went with my friends. I really enjoyed learning how to sail the yacht because it was something new to learn and something you know for ever. Now I can teach my  family and cousins how to sail a yacht. Something I found hard was sailing with liam because he liked going fast and I did not like going fast. I also found it hard letting the mainsheet go at the right time and tightening it at the right time. Also pulling up the centre board when you're also trying to hold the mainsheet. Most of the days I felt really nervous and did not want to go out, like the time I went out with liam and started to cry but now I know that everything was ok. Something I want to get better at is controlling the mainsheet and loosening and tightening  at the right time.

I found yachting hard in some ways and easy in other. I would really like to try yachting again and get more confident.  

Yachting and Kayaking

Yachting and kayaking Day

Day 1

I jump out of the bus and ran over to put my bag down ready for going our yachting and kayaking later. My tummy growled with nerves. My first partner was Renee. We chose our boat and set out I was in charge of the sail and the center board, Renee was in control of the tiller and rudder. I was scared at first because I had never been yachting before we sailed around my hand got really sore from holding the rope. We went back after a while so Renee could go with a another person. I went and meet up with my friend shore. I did not want to go back in but I had to so I went with Greta we managed ok because we were not with an experienced person on board.

Once we finished yachting  we headed over to kayaking.  Kayaking was really fun my partner was Georgia but she gave upon me half way through so I had to go with poppy’s mum. We kayaked around for a little while, we went out to the little island in the middle of Pandora pond and stayed there for a bit. We went back in when the whistle blew for to hop out and get changed to catch our bus.

YACHT REFLECTIONS

Positives

Our rudder was the best part of our boat. It was connected to the tiller. It turns quite well.. I think our team worked well. We finished our boat. We didn't think we would. Luckily we did not lose any parts but cam got one taken off us. The stuff we used were

Cardboard, Black paper, Split pin, Popsicle sticks, Paper clip, 2m sellotape, Paintbrush,  Blue Cellophane and a rubbish bag

Negatives

Our yacht turned out alright but the sail did not. Our sail is all wobbly and not in the right place.  I think my group worked ok but sometimes Cameron D was off task and not helping, though he did help at times.

Interesting

I think our name was interesting it was called The Blue Beauty, Georgia made the name up. Our rudder and tiller moved together some peoples did not move together. Our centre board does not go down all the way because has a lock so water cannot leak in. It was interesting to put the boat together because  it was my first time making a yacht. Another interesting thing was learning where all the parts went.

Modifications I would make  

I would fix up the mast because it was all wonky and does not  stand up straight. I think we could also shrink the buoyancy tanks by a tiny bit. I would also enlarge the sail a little bit because it is too small and won't sail that far. I would also redo the boom because it does not have the pulleys.

X-ray gave the gold tube to my pendanski and he got a twice as long shower then usually and the

the rest of them had to keep on working and dig around where they thought x-ray found the gold tube. They had to take longer days but they never found anything. Now everyone thinks x-ray found the tube

What will happen next? Why do you think that?

I think x-ray will get special treatment by the lady.

Because the supposedly gold tube and it could be worth a lot of money  

Netball Prezi

Cross Country

My heart pounded as I began to run around the field. Flicking grass tingled against my legs. I could feel my body getting hotter and hotter like I was next to the sun. My eyes watched other people zoom past me at a million miles an hour, trying to get one more popsicle stick I picked up the pass and then slowed back down. The taste of new air filled my mouth with pleasure. Picking up the pace I grabbed the stick from Miss Mack and was off. I could hear stomps of shoes sprinting towards me. People puffing around me to get a higher stick. Almost at the forth stick I began to run faster to reach one higher stick than last time. I slowed down not to waste all my energy. The air was fill with a stinky smell of sweaty shoes and socks surrounding me as I ran. As we ran back into class I had a huge drink of water. The water was smooth as it trickled down my boiling throat.

Prize from Colgate

Today we received a prize from Colgate. 6 bouncy balls just for our class. The picture above is me and Charlotte holding two of the bouncy balls. The first thing we played was dodge ball in the hall. I was in team 2 we won the first game lost the second game I was one of the final two but then someone hit me.  Then Miss Garland said winner takes all. It was a tough game but my team took it out. It was really fun playing with our new balls.

If I was Stanley I would never of given x-ray the gold tube. I would never of given it because you would have  gotten a lot more rest if you had the day off and would not be so tired for the next day.

Skiing Tragety

It was a beautiful winters day up at Mount Ruapehu. I was going skiing with my cousins Harvey, Erin ,Fleur and my Uncle Mat. We geared up in all our warm clothes ski boots and all carried our skis down the hill to the chairlift. We waited for everyone to get to the chairlift once we were all there got on the chairlift and it took us to the top. I was with Fleur going up we were on the real slow chairlift.

When we were at the top we waited again for the others and skied down the mountain Fleur ,Erin and I practiced what we learnt from our ski instructor Dave the day before. The place we skied down was called rock garden there was rocks sticking out not covered by snow because it did not snow much. We went down a few times, this time on the faster chairlift

When I was going up the chairlift with Erin were happily chatting about what Erin wanted for her birthday. She wanted Erin the firebird fairy book. When we were near the top I put the bar up. Erin wiggled forward ready to get off while I looked back and pushed the bar up. Erin wiggled too far and fell four metres on to the ground. When I looked back and said Erin and she was not there and she was falling to the ground luckily we were almost at the end. I was yelling at the man that she fell he finally listened to me and went inside the hut and called Ski Patrol. I skied off dodged ten people and skied down to where Erin was. Where two snowboarders were helping her take off one of the ski’s that was twisted. Soon Mat and Fleur arrived Erin was screaming. Fleur went and found Harvey. My Mum also came up the chairlift on her first run.

A man named Mike from Ski Patrol came he asked Erin a few questions and called some other men. One of the other men held her head. The other one brought a stretcher down they took the plastic orange board out and  undid all the ropes. They put a neck supporter around her neck. They tied it back up and put the orange board in a metal box or something. Ski patrol put their skis on and took Erin down the mountain to the medial centre. Mat followed closely down with them. Then Toni came looking worried she waited with us for a moment and told her about erin and she started skiing down the mountain as well fleur and I followed he. While my Mum was left putting her skis on once at the bottom we put our skis on a rack and asked a lady where the medical centre was.

When we were there we waited for my mum because we did not want to ring the bell. When my mum was close we rung the bell and the nurse came out and told us the doctor was checking her so we waited in the waiting room with my Mum. My dad came out with Pippi and my mum took her down to Happy Valley and pick Oscar up. Fleur complained of being thirsty so my Dad gave us 5 dollars to spend so we went and got a drink while erin was getting checked. We went back to the medical centre and drank it. When we had just finished the nurse said me and Fleur were allowed to come in and see Erin she was looking much better from when she feel. But still she was going to Taupo Hospital to get an x-ray. Erin went to hospital by ambulance.

Erin had a really rough 24 hours!!! Getting a bump on her head and a falling off the chairlift.

I was really worried about Erin that night she must of been sore. It felt scary just seeing Erin fall. I really wish this never will happen again but it might.

Whaling KWL

Book week

 Today the 10th of July it is book character day . We had to dress as our favourite book character. I was Tara from Gym Stars she is a gymnast. I wore a sparkly leotard. There was a parade in the hall. There were heaps and heaps of princesses, little red riding hood and star wars people. We also had a delicious sausage sizzle. I had a 3 sausages because my mum was supposed to come but she didn't so I had three instead of one or two. Here is picture of me!    

   

Assembly Item

Friday 5th of July

On Friday we did our assembly item. It was a camp kitawa documentary. It had two hosts and they were Charlotte and josh  and all the rest of us were either Mum, dad, kid, baby grandma and granddad I chose to be a baby i wore my pink leopard onesie and when they entered I went all scared like you are these people. It was really fun and and enjoying but really long. I felt I little weird at first but once we got into it I was fine it became more fun every minute. The dance was the funnest just getting up there and dancing I did the splits at the end and it was really fun. I think it went quite well apart from when the Colgate video played up apart I think it was other wise great.     

  

Floating forest adventure

Crashing of waves as we sailed around us. Waves smacked around our small boat. Drops of the salty water flicked against our faces   Something came into sight what was it I sailed closer there was trees even closer we realised that it was a abandoned ship with trees growing on it. We got excited and wanted to get there more than ever.  After ten minutes we were there at the boat we wondered why it had trees on it.

Charlotte wanted to get inside we sailed around there was a trap door. Pulling and heaving the boat almost slipped away and charlotte and i almost fell in. The trap door was creaking so we tried again at last it swung open. It was a tight squeeze we tied our boat to the little hand of the trap door. Spider webs everywhere we looked it was thin we came to the end. Charlotte and I came into this area covered with trees. We began to explore floorboards creaked as we walked it felt like eyes looking down at us.

Charlotte headed for the thick trees she screamed” ahhhhhhh,” there was something in there charlotte whispered to me. We creeped closer” anyone there ” I  yelled. no reply. I Creeped even close charlotte stayed back, I soon came to the end I called out to charlotte to come. When she got there I said it might be the wind” “are you sure said charlotte. We headed back  on the way back charlotte stumbled on something what was it we both looked down a golden key. We ran back to where the trap door was. Puzzled charlotte and I looked around for a door charlotte said lets look back in all the trees. Looking as we walked I stepped right on to a wooden plank.

I kneeled down charlotte came over I knocked on it the was an echo me and charlotte heaved to see if we could move it. Heaving and heaving the wood came flying off there was a thin rope charlotte wondered if we should go down because it could be dangerous she said. I didn't listen to her and skimmed down the rope. Shadows creeped along the walls as the light beamed in charlotte yelled at me” is it self i'll come down,”” yeah think so I yelled back. Charlotte skimmed down the rope waiting I heard a sudden movement above us.

Slam!!!The wood I cried oh no”it could not of shut by itself someone must of put the wood back cried charlotte “its pitch dark” I cried. I walked straight into something what was it charlotte ran over see what happened she almost did it as well it felt hard like metal charlotte reached out to see what it was a solid piece of iron. We both got excited this must be priceless I said lets see if we can get back up. Charlotte climbed the rope I held the tight at the bottom charlotte  took one  hand of the rope she and pushed and pushed until  it flung off.

Charlotte climbed out and waited for me before I started to climb I stepped  on something soft I bend  down it was a dairy why is a dairy I called out to charlotte I found a dairy I’ll bring it up I put it in my pocket. Heaving  up the rope I thought of all the secrets that the diary may tell heaps maybe how this ship got landed here or may say who was on board. I got to the top with lots of puffing. Charlotte and I went back to where the little trap door and sat down and began reading from the sunlight. The the first page of the dairy said

It was a rough night the waves were big sailors fell overboard Don't where the ships going my dads dead I don't know what to do

  I think I might die because the sea just getting too rough. But first the captains dead its unbearable

Melodie

Who melodie charlotte explained maybe she was on the ship at the time I said what if she died charlotte said. She might of I said lets check out the second page I said it might tell us a bit more

. The anchor suck it can't move its stuck to a rock I think I might die.

This might be my last note before I die or the boat sinks.

Last night it felt like something might.

Haunting the ship.There is only one crew member left.

I think if we don't get saved we are going to die together.

Melodie

A ghost” I whimper” It can't be matilda they don’t exist” said charlotte I suppose. Lets go explore even more charlotte said jumping around. Ok ok” coming lets go for another look” I don't think anyone's here” I said. Lets go and see if we can see what's inside apart from the iron I think I have a torch in the boat I’ll go and get it. After 5 minutes charlotte was back with the torch.

Together we made our way to the piece of wood I went first waiting in the dark for Charlotte. Charlotte flicked on her torch and we looked around there was a door at the end we ran over it was locked matilda matilda do you have the key” “ yes here it is it slid into the keyhole perfectly. Slowly we walked forward not knowing what was in front of us. A bed what is a tatty bed doing down here maybe its was melodies cabin look its a dressers. Lets look inside clothes It must be melodies clothes. It must be getting late we should start to head back said charlotte we headed started to head back through the dark tunnel what an adventure. Once finished climbing up the rope we headed back to our boat and that was such a great adventure I still wish I could come back to the floating forest.
